So Long Farewell ....

Well ... the bomb hit today! Yep, Jaron, Lori, and I were layed off from Stampin' Up!

You would have been soooo proud of me. I held my head up high and went out singing ... literally ... I sang at the top of my lungs while getting in the elevator, "I'm Leaving Now .... Whoo Hoo!"

I've learned a very valuable life lesson. The Spirit spoke to me through dreams and to my heart. I knew I was getting layed off. And, after listening to the conference talks I knew that those talks were for me. I know that if I continue being faithful, keeping the commandments, paying my tithing, serving the Lord in my calling, HE will provide. HE always has!

As I was driving home and experiencing the pangs of unemployment, several thoughts came into my mind. I know this was the Spirit talking to me. I've always wanted to do voice overs and commercials, now I'll have the time to pursue that. You need to be on 'call' to do that. Wouldn't that be fun? And, out of the blue, one of my bestest buddies who used to work at Stampin' Up! called me and told me that she's already contacted another company that one of Stampin' Up!'s best presenters is out on the street lookin' for work. I already have a lead! See, the Lord provides!

I think one of the saddest things about leaving, of course is missing my little buddies, but to be dismissed without a word of thanks for 9 years of dedicated service! Not one word of thanks, or we'll miss you from upper management. BOOOOOO!

Now I've said my peace. There's a brighter tomorrow than today. Life is Good! Love to you all!!

I'm disappointed on SOOOO many levels.

And I share this experience with you. Except with me it was 17 years and 3 days before Christmas. It stings.

But here's what I know.

I love you. Everyone who has ever met you does. You have a beautiful voice!!! I had a TV show last year, and know some media peeps, so I will do a little legwork for you as well.

But the thing that hurts the most is knowing I won't see you in August. I just registered today.

I'm in complete shock. It will not be the same without you, Linda. You are so much a part of those events.

:(

I miss you already. Thank you for sharing your blog and for your candor and sweetness and faith.

Your cheer and sweet encouragement will be so very missed, not only by me, but by those who don't even realize it yet. I love you to pieces, I always will. Thank you for your testimony, it warms my soul. You are a gift, don't ever think otherwise! Love you so much hun.

Of all the people to be layed off, the three of you were the last I would have imagined to go. I can't imagine convention without you. I love you and will miss you at these events. Stay in touch through facebook and family.

I am just totally and utterly SPEECHLESS (which is quite a feat considering how much I can talk!)! What on earth are we are going to do without all of you?? You were all such an amazingly important part of Stampin' Up. Convention is going to be so empty without you there. You are loved, you are admired and to say that you will be missed is an understatement.

Our hearts and prayers go with you!!!

My dear Linda, Long before I was an employee, I thought the world of you. At every event you were just so fun, so wonderful and so kind. Then, to get to work with you was like a dream. I loved our chats.
So from a demonstrator and an employee of Stampin' Up! but most importantly as your friend, I will miss you so much.
God Bless you Linda

Unbelievable!!! You are as much SU as it gets for me! You came to Canada for a start up Meeting 6 years ago and brought your heart. You are so genuine!I can't even imagine their thinking, I signed up for classes at Leadership no matter the content just to have you be the teacher! And without any word of thanks...wow!
I agree with you, there must be a 'bigger' reason, truly something more suited for you...I will be watching the blog to see what, with excitement for you!
As Tim McGraw sings "There ain't no troubles that we can't rise above, with a handful of faith and a heartful of love." and you have all that and more, Linda! Keep on Shining, keep on smiling...you are one of the good ones!

I echo everyone's comments. You, Jaron and Lori have been at every convention I've attended. I enjoyed your company at our Hawaii Regional. Linda, YOU are the reason I came to convention every year. YOU are the reason I buy those products that I think I can live without (until I see you demo it). This is a load of crap and I cannot believe they gave you no thanks for your hard work for all these years...and no notice? SU will be having one less person at convention because of this bone-headed decision.

As SU's first trainer, you led the way and trained us all so well. Thank you Linda.

I applaud you for trying to see the positives in this and I sincerely hope it all works out for you.

Your humor, your gorgeous smile, your contagious love for life ~ all make you the wonderful person you are.....and you will succeed wherever you go. You will be sorely missed. I remember loving you right from the start, but especially my first year on the Advisory Board I have warm warm memories of you making me feel very at home and comfortable in the home office, with your warm smile, and your quick intuitive sense that I was a wee bit on the timid side back then.....you picked up on that and made me feel so at ease. I will never think of you without warm feelings Linda. I as so many others are absolutely shocked to see this. I saw Jaron at the Mpls regional (and really missed you!) and said that there is no way they could lay you off because Stampin Up said it would not affect the Demonstrators. I am so sorry, but this HUGELY affects us demonstrators. In what world are the three of you (Jaron, you and Lori) not an integral part of the Demonstrator experience. Convention will be sad and down right wrong with out you all. I can't imagine how you must feel after everything you've contributed to each of us over the years and to not have anything said to you as you left. My heart just aches! Please know you three ARE such an important part of being a demonstrator for so many of us and we can't imagine Stampin Up without you. Linda, I don't know what to say. I sent you a little something in the mail this week - I hope you get it. It's so strange I went to the post office to mail it and when I got there, I'd left it at home which was very strange since I'd been carrying it around in my bag for days, but all the same, I drove home, fetched it and mailed it and as I did so, I wondered if there was a reason why it had been such a huge task to simply mail an envelope. I guess I have my answer.

I love Stampin' Up! but I truly feel that they have no idea what they have done. It was you personally that made London Special. I don't know what to say. I'm going to miss welcoming you into my kitchen through your videos. I'm going to miss one day meeting you in person again. I'm so dreadfully sad for you. Please stay in touch.

I was lucky enough to meet you years back in Vancouver BC.....and you're inspiring, and your sense of fun is contagious.

In my opinion, SU is making some deadly mistakes lately....by "eliminating" 3 of the most well known faces (and let's not forget about our friend KWerner), they're alienating those of us who connect all of YOU with SU. Tsk, tsk, and shame shame shame. And to read that there was not one word of thanks?

I'm sorry! But as one person who was notified 2 days after Xmas break that our whole office was being downsized from 11 to 2....I know the feeling well.

Look at it as "the open window"! Opportunities will abound!

BEST OF LUCK.....and thanks for all the inspiration you've provided so many of us!

It is definitely SU's loss, for I am confident that the Lord has something better in mind for you. I

My heart aches for you right now. I know part of what you are feeling I worked for a company for 5 years, left to go to computer school and then they search me out and asked me to come back and worked another 5 years only to lose my job because they valued the bookkeeper more than me! It hurt and still does. As that was in 6/07 and I still have not found work. This person lives down the block from me and makes a point of slowing down in front of my house to let me know she is off to work!

Linda,

I am so very sorry for you. I have again been dissappointed by Stampin' Up!'s management style. I can understand the need for the company to lay off employees, BUT I would have thought that Shelly or upper management would have had the heart to thank you for your years of service. I dropped as a demo because regardless of what everyone says about SU! - it's a business - period. Good luck!

OH...I'm very disappointed. I actually spoke with you this year at the Regionals in London Ontario, I came over and asked if you could say Happy Birthday to my friend Kim! The best one I have seen. I learned more from your presentations then I did from any of the others.
I'm saddened too by the lack of "thanks" on Stampin' Up!'s part. It's hard to believe they would be like that.
Congrats though on having some job leads already! Keep the faith Linda any company would be blessed to have you with them.

Linda,
We will certainly miss you. Thank you for all you've done for all of us in your years with SU! - and for making it all fun!

All I can think is that these layoffs were so difficult for Shelli that she was unable to come up with the appropriate words that should've been said when the time came to deliver this news. No amount of thinking it through would help when something like this has to be done even though it seems like "thank you" should be easy.

Best wishes to you. I would also love to hear you doing audio books!

Linda Lou, yesterday was one of the saddest days of my life. I'm still in shock, I think and I can't understand you and Jaron and Lori being gone. Maybe you heard that I'm gone too, but we had talked about that so often, right? I also just knew inside that it would happen. I was ok till I had to go through the gauntlet of hugs and tears and then I lost it. I forgot to get your number, so write to me and let me know. PLEASE!

Love you lots,

This is surreal - you are as much SU to me as Shelli was...you touched so many lives - I know wherever you go you will continue to touch lives - lucky people to get to have you next.

It's very frightening to know that SU has laid off people of your caliber and level...makes you wonder where they really are financially...

you have my heart wherever you go...

Dear Linda ~ I can only imagine that you will be one of the first they call back when the economy starts to turn back around. I'm so happy that you went out singing. It's hugely disappointing. It's happening everywhere. To my customers and friends and I have made adjustments in my business to still include all those struggling in these hard times. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time. You are an amazing and inspiring person. Convention wont be the same without you. I hope you attend as a demo. You will be SO missed and NEVER forgotten. I know in my heart you'll be back. Big hugs.

Hi Linda,

Today is truly the saddest day of my Stampin' Up! life. I so looked forward to all the SU! events but the one thing I looked forward to the most was seeing you, both privately and up on stage. You lifted my spirits every time you spoke, presented and sang! What an ambassador you were for Stampin' Up! I'm truly speechless at this moment. I'm leaving for the Seattle Regionals in a few hours and thought I would see you there and now I wished I'd waited to register for Convention until after I'd heard this news because I'm not sure I would have gone this year if I'd known you & Jaron wouldn't be there too!

Life goes on and you will look back on your time with Stampin' Up!with true fondness and gratitude. I just want you to know what impact you've had on my life over the years - I can still remember our times in Vancouver, especially the time with Pam Morgan, Sue Farrant, you and I sharing a meal. What fun you are and what a zest for life you have - your family and friends are so lucky to have you in their lives!

LOVE you Linda!

That seems to be the way of upper management, Linda - they never can deal with the really HARD stuff - like affecting people's lives. I worked in a law firm (retired) and there have been recent layoffs handled in much the same way - but at least a large severance helps. I just watched your stenciling video yesterday and will truly miss you on the Web!

I am glad to see so many leads for you in these posts. It is very hard to lose a job, but losing one that you love is very difficult. You will feel better.

I was saddened to see Shelli's post today that she was so glad it was over. Although true for her, it is only starting for many. I hope she removes the thoughtless remark.

I am in shock! The first regional I ever went to in DC you were there and it made me register for convention and I haven't missed one yet! You are a FABULOUS woman inside and out and you will be terribly missed! I don't know what SU is thinking...I mean, seriously!!!

I'm glad general conference was a comfort to you, and know that convention will not be the same without you, Jaron and Linda...we will miss you guys so much! But great things are in store for you...someone as wonderful as you will succeed in anything and everything you do!

Please keep up your blog so we can keep up with your awesomeness!!! You are a great example to everyone...thanks for all you have done!

Linda,
I am so sad to hear about this news. Just yesterday, I was showing the highlights of last year's convention and trying to convince one of my downline to come to this year's. One of my arguments was "oh and you'll enjoy the demos that Linda Hanson and Jaron are doing... they are amazing and fun people!"...

I wish you the best of luck. Judging by your reaction to this whole, I am confident that you will find a brighter star to follow.

Keep your faith and strength!

Linda,
I just heard the news today sort of "back-handed"... I couldn't believe it, and didn't believe it until I saw it on your website!

I've read through all of the preceding posts, and I echo all of their sentiments. It was always such a pleasure to see you at any SU! event - your smile, your infectious enthusiasm, your concern for others, and your zest for life just poured from you. When I heard that there would be some layoffs at SU!, I never dreamed that it would include you - what were they thinking?

You may not remember all of the demonstrators that you've met, but believe me, you have touched our lives in so many ways and WE will always remember YOU! I can just picture you walking out singing - and my heart breaks into little pieces at the thought.

You will be sorely missed. But as so many have eluded, "when God closes a door, He opens a window". Please keep us updated on your future endeavors. We wish you all the best.

Linda,

First, I am so sad to hear your news. I admire how you are handling the news and the actions you are taking to move forward with your life.

I too share this experience with you---close to 30 years with a Company. It's a hard blow and yet one must remember that work is something you do---not who you are. I must say my life has been greatly enriched and has expanded since my being laid off.

When God closes the door another door opens (it may be 'Hell' in the hallway for awhile though). :-)

As for 'good-byes' from upper management---there can be legal issues involved with what they can say or do with employees being let go.

I was sooo shocked and saddened by the news of your leaving SU! I was privileged to be your "chariot ride" to the Mile Hi Stampers Meeting in Denver while you were here for the Denver Regional a few years ago. My friend, Cheryl, and I so much relished the time spent with you getting to know you and then seeing you at all the events. My first event that I remember you was at the Omaha Regional in 2001. You were fab then and have continued to add so much to all of the events that Stampin' Up! has had since your arrival. We will all miss your wonderful shining smile and I will miss the hugs I always got from you. However, I know that God has great things in store for you and the talent that He blessed you with. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing! I know I speak for all of the Mile Hi Stampers--we love you and miss you already!

Oh Linda. The Stampin' Up! world will never be the same. Hy Heart goes out to you and your family. I was laid off in January just 2 months short of my 20th anniversary. That really hurt and because of that and other things going on with the economy, I am unable to go to the convention this year. However, in light of you and Jaron and the others not being there, the pain is a little less.
You are so very talented I know your stampin business will just go head over heels and God will watch over you and your family.

Linda,
You have touched so many hearts and lives, thanks so much for your service to us Demonstrators. It is so painful when people do not acknowledge, say good by and thanks for a job well done. What my husband and I found out years ago is it is more about them than you. It is like a death and they are not sure what to say, their fear of it could be them, guilt that it wasn't so many emotions. I am proud of you that you held your head high and sang, Love to hear you sing. Sometimes when these things happen it propels us on a journey we didn't even know we wanted to take.

You could always go into coaching all of us out here we would hire you in a minute! Just another possibility and you could use a different voice each time to entertain us.

At leadership many years ago you talked about the dash between the dates it meant a great deal to me at a time I was losing someone very special to cancer. You have touched many in ways you can never imagine.

All my love

Hi Linda,

I had the pleasure to see you on Stage at many Stampin Up! events throughout my 6 years as a demo. I always looked forward to seeing you! You were always fun, sweet, and sparked a since of creativity in me. I am very sad and dissappointed that Stampin Up! would take such measures to people who I would consider shining stars. It also shocks me to hear not one word of Thanks!

I currently work as a demo and also work for a large corporation that has laid off thousands of people so far. I must say it is a hard thing to watch and also a hard climate to work in. Sometimes my friends were the ones saying goodbye. So far I have been very lucky in keeping my job, but everyday I go to work not knowing if this will be my last.

I hope you getting laid off was just the beginning of something great for you. I truely believe God works in magical ways :) Please keep posting on your blog so we all can keep in touch.

Again Thank you for being you! :)

I have never been to convention and honestly don't know who you are, but from the scheme of things, this went down WRONG. I said my piece on Shelli's blog and hope that brings her back to reality on exactly how wrong this decision was. I feel your pain and please know that you were loved by ALL, even me, because now that I see all of the outpouring of love, there is nothing I regret more than NOT KNOWING YOU.

Best wishes and LOVE to you!

Linda,

I've considered you to be such a vital part of how I see Stampin' Up! and the ongoing training (and inspiration!) you provide to us demos. You got amazing presentation skills and such a wonderful spirit. I know the Lord will provide. That said, a selfish part of me wishes this never happened. However, I know there is a GREATER plan for you, of which you are very deserving.

Linda, I'm going to miss you at SU events! Please know that even if you're not there in body, you'll be there in spirit. That's quite the legacy for you to leave--your words and wisdom will be floating around for a long time.

You're a wonderful person--I'm sure that you'll land on your feet and continue to affect peoples lives for the better.

Oh, Linda, I'm so saddened to hear this! Everyone has said it so well - when I think of mainstage, I think of you! I will miss you so much!

I think you are already seeing your window open - my husband was laid off last fall, and I can honestly say that it was the *only* way he would have left - he's a loyal company man to the core. But because he was laid off, he was finally able to pursue his dream of starting his OWN corporation. Thank GOODNESS he was laid off - could this be the same for you? I can see you are already exploring that dream yourself, and I know you will be successful!

Chin up, my dear - you have such a bright fire, it will only have a chance to grow bigger now! I will miss you sorely, but look forward to hearing you on radio and seeing you on tv! :)

I am SO,SO sorry Linda. I am devastated over this news. Next to Shelli, you and Jaron are SU! Whenever I go to convention and I have a choice of classes, I would never think of missing yours. I was so looking forward to seeing both of you this year and I am disappointed that this announcement came out one day after registration because i would not have gone.I'm not being mean about it, that is just how I feel about you guys. There are going to be a lot of repurcussions from this. You guys epitomize what SU! stands for and I have seen you at conventions and regionals and you could never give more than you do of your time and talents. You are so warm and kind to everyone and treat us all special. Linda, I pray nothing but God's very best for your in the future and you just don't treat best friends this way. I can't tell you how sad this news makes me. To me, you and Jaron have been and always will be a huge part of what I loved about Stampin' Up! I truly believe that when one door closes, another one opens and I know that you will be okay...probably even better. Why? Because you have dreams and now you have time to reach for them. I can't imagine being at Convention or any SU event and not seeing your beautiful smiling face, laughing at something you said, or enjoying your beautiful voice. I know SU feels that they did what they had to do, but in my opinion letting the two of you go is a huge loss and a big mistake. The saddest part was hearing that you didn't get the "goodbye and thanks" that you deserved. I expected better than that. God Bless you Linda. I would love to keep in touch because you're just a big HAPPY in life! Hugs to you, Jeanne Ciolli

When I went to my first convention, I was wandering down the main hall, and you stopped me and talked with me, asked he how I liked it, and pointed me in the right direction to where I was trying to go! You were so kind, and what a pretty smile - a genuinely caring person! However, our loss will be someone else's gain! I am sure that God has something else in mind for you, and you will bring gladdness to other's hearts, as you have done for the SU workplace and demonstrators!
